In Uzbekistan, two bloggers who illegally promoted gambling and betting services were held administratively liable, and their case was referred to court. This was reported by the Committee on the Development of Competition and Protection of Consumer Rights.
According to the results of the inspection, bloggers with several hundred thousand followers posted content and videos on their pages promoting betting services. In particular, it was found that content using the “Melbet” brand, as well as staged videos promoting gambling, belonged to citizen Amirkhon Utkir ogli Shamsiddinov (amirxon_uzbek) and Doniyor Maaruf ogli Ilyosov (donik_krash).
The documents related to the administrative case were drawn up in accordance with the established procedure and sent to court.
For reference: according to Article 46 of the Law “On Advertising”, the advertising of gambling and other risk-based games is strictly prohibited in Uzbekistan. Such activities entail administrative or criminal liability. Officials stressed the need to further strengthen control in the online environment to prevent such cases.
