During operational-search activities conducted by employees of the State Security Service and the Ministry of Internal Affairs, an organized criminal group engaged in the trafficking of human organs and tissues was exposed.
A criminal group consisting of 12 citizens living in the city of Tashkent and Tashkent, Fergana, Bukhara, and Kashkadarya regions, through social networks, found patients suffering from kidney and liver diseases and, attracting healthy citizens to sell their organs for a large sum of money, with the help of acquaintances abroad, forged identity documents, presenting them as relatives, and performed surgical operations in a private clinic in one of the neighboring countries.
During the activities of the organized criminal group in 2023-2025, 32 patients underwent kidney or liver transplantation.
In turn, a certain part of the large sum of money received from patients was given to private clinics and donors for the operation, and the rest was distributed among themselves.
Also, the criminal group sold potent drugs at high prices to patients who had no positive changes in their health after surgery to alleviate pain.
A criminal case was initiated against members of an organized criminal group under Articles 133-1 (violation of the conditions and (or) procedure for the removal and transplantation of human organs and (or) tissues), 228 (production, forgery, sale or use of documents, stamps, seals, forms), 246 (smuggling) and 273 (illegal manufacture, acquisition, storage and other actions for the purpose of sale of narcotic drugs, their analogues or psychotropic substances, as well as their illegal sale) of the Criminal Code.
Currently, the criminal case has been sent to the judicial authorities for consideration on the merits.
