If an alimony payer permanently resides or goes abroad for more than three months, according to the law, they must reach an agreement with the alimony recipients, writes Bahodir Ahmedov on his Telegram channel. This is stipulated in Article 145 of the Family Code.
If no agreement is reached, the court may set the alimony amount as a fixed sum, allowing for a one-time payment of alimony or the transfer of property.
The legislation also protects the rights of the alimony payer. They may be granted permission for scientific conferences, short trips, and similar short-term departures; only the above rules apply for long-term travel abroad.
