Mubashshir Ahmad has been sentenced to 2.6 years in prison, Kursiv Uzbekistan reported.
On October 8, a court in Tashkent sentenced religious blogger Alisher Tursunov (Mubashshir Ahmad) to 2 years and 6 months in prison. This was announced by the press service of the Supreme Court of Uzbekistan.
The court confirmed the charges of preparing and storing illegal religious materials, inciting hatred among the population, and distributing illegal content on the internet. The sentence will be served in a general regime colony.
The court also decided to block the blogger's social media pages. The prosecutor requested 7 years in prison and a fine, while the defense asked for partial dismissal of the charges and consideration of the blogger's role in educating youth and his health condition.
