The tragic traffic accident that occurred in the Kuva district of the Fergana region deeply saddened the local residents. A driver who failed to follow traffic rules caused the death of a 9-year-old child. This was reported by the program “Bu Kun”.
According to the information, the accident happened around 7:30 in the morning, when children were on their way to school, at the 182nd kilometer of the D-105 highway. The 21-year-old driver, who was driving a Damas car assigned to him under a power of attorney, hit a third-grade student of School No. 66 who was crossing the pedestrian lane.
The child was immediately taken to the central hospital of Kuva district. According to witnesses and local residents, doctors did everything possible to save his life. However, despite the medical assistance provided, the boy died in the hospital.
The driver admitted his guilt and explained the incident as a result of haste and carelessness. “I was driving along the roadside and wanted to turn. At that moment, a pedestrian ran out. I didn’t see him in time and hit him,” he said in his testimony during interrogation.
A criminal case has been opened by the investigative department under the Kuva district internal affairs department. Investigators qualified the driver’s actions under Article 266, Part 2 of the Criminal Code of the Republic of Uzbekistan — “Violation of traffic safety rules resulting in the death of a person.”
At present, the accused has been taken into custody, and preliminary investigative actions are underway. It is possible that, following the investigation, he may face imprisonment as punishment.
The incident has caused a strong public reaction. Many parents emphasize the need to pay greater attention to traffic safety, parental responsibility when taking children to school, and driver attentiveness.
Representatives of the Fergana regional police department and local authorities announced that additional preventive measures will be taken to prevent traffic accidents involving minors. In particular, it is planned to renovate pedestrian crossings and increase the number of traffic signs near schools.
Experts believe that to prevent such tragedies, not only drivers but every citizen — especially parents — must take responsibility. A moment of inattention can turn into a lifetime tragedy for an entire family.
