In Ohangaron district, Tashkent region, a convict born in 1994 who escaped from a penal colony on October 16 raped a 3rd grade student returning from school, Uz24 reported.
The regional Department of Internal Affairs confirmed the information and an investigation is currently underway into the criminal case.
It was reported that a criminal case was initiated against the 31-year-old convict under Article 119, Part 4 of the Criminal Code (satisfying sexual need in an unnatural way by use of violence).
This person was detained by law enforcement agencies in accordance with procedural rules and a “detention” measure was applied to him.
According to the information, the convict had previously been convicted for a sexual crime — in 2018, he was sentenced to 16 years in prison under Article 118 of the Criminal Code (rape) in Fergana region.
In 2024, by court decision, he was transferred to a penal colony to serve the remaining 9 years and 2 months of his sentence, but escaped from there.
According to the law, the punishment for committing sexual violence against a person under 14 years of age is imprisonment from 15 to 20 years.
