Woman caught hiding 133 million soums worth of gold in baby's diaper

In the Tashkent region, a woman attempting to cross the border was found to have gold bars worth 133 million soums hidden in a baby’s diaper, the Customs Committee reported.

According to the information, during baggage inspection at the “Yallama” border checkpoint, two gold bars with a total weight of 111 grams were discovered. It was established that they had been deliberately concealed inside the baby’s diaper.

As a result of the inspection, the gold was confiscated. At present, the customs authorities are conducting investigative procedures.

Officials reminded that under current legislation, individuals are allowed to take out up to 65 grams of gold jewelry without declaration. Any amount exceeding this limit must be declared.

Customs officers noted that this case once again demonstrates the strengthening of efforts to combat illegal attempts to smuggle precious metals across the border.
