Why does Generation Z feel like the most unhappy generation?

Generation Z - that is, those born between 1997-2010, according to scientists, are becoming the most unhappy generation in human history. Researchers from Harvard and Baylor University reached this conclusion after conducting a comprehensive survey in 22 countries, reports Fortune magazine.

The analysis showed that previously people experienced the highest level of happiness in youth, satisfaction decreased in middle age, and then increased again in old age. But this "happiness curve" has now become flat - Generation Z members are losing their sense of joy and hope much earlier.

According to scientists, among people aged 18-29, cases of anxiety, depression, financial problems, and loss of meaning in life have sharply increased. Most of them feel lonely, unwanted, or afraid of the future.

"This is a very serious signal. Society is not paying enough attention to the emotional well-being of young people," says Tyler Vanderville, one of the authors of the study and head of the Harvard Human Development Program.

Experts attribute this situation to the pressures of modern life, economic uncertainty, political contradictions, and the constant flow of negative information. Half of the respondents even noted that they do not have a purpose in life, and the rest live in constant financial anxiety.

Scientists believe that if this trend continues, humanity will be forced to reformulate the concept of "happy youth."

We remind you that those born between 2025-2039 are classified as Beta generation. They are preceded by the Alfa generation, born in 2010-2024, and preceded by the Z generation, born in 1997-2010, as well as the Y generation, or Millennials, born in 1981-1996.
