The condition of elevators in Tashkent’s multi-storey buildings is causing serious concern. According to the industrial safety authority, 37,103 elevator malfunctions have been detected in the capital, Kun.uz reported.
According to Olimjon Juraev, head of the city department of the Committee for Industrial, Radiation and Nuclear Safety, since the beginning of this year 121 inspections and more than 10,000 preventive checks have been carried out. As a result, over 1,100 violations of the law were identified, and 135 responsible individuals faced administrative penalties.
He also recalled the crane accident that occurred at the “Do‘mbirobod City” construction site in the Chilanzar district in September. The incident resulted in one fatality and two serious injuries. Following the investigation, measures were taken to prevent such tragedies in the future.
Currently, 74 cranes in Tashkent are operating only with official authorization. In addition, 205 gas stations were inspected, and almost half were found to have documentation issues — 41 were not identified, 78 lacked project expertise, and 147 had no technical conclusion.
During the press conference, it was also reported that 263 amusement rides in 17 parks of culture and recreation in Tashkent were inspected. Forty-five lacked technical passports, and 23 had no official safety maintenance documents.
Officials emphasized that such deficiencies in the capital’s infrastructure directly affect citizens’ daily safety. Therefore, control measures will continue until the end of the year, with specific actions to be taken for each facility.
