59-year-old drug dealer caught red-handed with 1 kg of opium

In the Samarkand region, a 59-year-old previously convicted person was found to be involved in illegal drug trafficking again. This was reported by the press service of the State Security Service.

Employees of the State Security Service's Samarkand Regional Department, in cooperation with the regional customs and internal affairs departments, conducted an operational event in the Urgut district.

A resident of the Urgut district, born in 1966, who was under surveillance, was caught red-handed while selling 993 grams of opium to a conditional buyer for $15,000.

During the pre-investigation inquiry, it was established that these heavy drugs were smuggled from the Republic of Tajikistan. It was established that the goods were smuggled across the border.

A criminal case has been initiated under part 2 of Article 28, 246 (smuggling) and part 5 of Article 273 (smuggling of narcotic drugs) of the Criminal Code. By court order, a preventive measure in the form of detention was applied to him.

According to SSS officials, crimes specified in these articles of the Criminal Code are punishable by imprisonment for a term of 10 to 20 years. The investigation is currently ongoing.
