Police beat fans in front of the stadium in Fergana

In Fergana, an unpleasant incident occurred yesterday before the football match. Videos circulating on social media show masked law-enforcement officers getting into a confrontation with a group of fans near the stadium, and some citizens being struck with batons.

The Regional Department of Internal Affairs commented on the situation. According to the official information, on 22 November, before the start of the “Neftchi” – “Qizilqum” match at the “Istiqlol” stadium, several individuals without tickets, while at the checkpoint, broke the barriers, attempted to enter the area illegally, and did not comply with the order.

The DIA states that the swift and decisive actions of the officers stopped the disorder. The identities of all citizens involved in the incident have been established, and an inquiry into their actions is ongoing.

In the footage, it is also visible that the fans threw objects at the officers in response. After the incident, the situation was stabilized.

At the same time, the match became a historic evening for the Fergana team. “Neftchi”, achieving a determined victory over “Qizilqum”, regained the Super League champion title after a 24-year break, one round before the end of the season.
