A case of illegal logging was discovered in the Bulungur district of the Samarkand region. In the territory of the "Kildon" mahalla, 498 trees planted against erosion in the inner part of the Aktepa canal and along its banks were cut down in violation of the moratorium requirements.
The felled trees included 327 poplar trees, 161 willows, 5 mulberry trees, 3 oleaster trees, and 2 walnut trees. According to experts' calculations, this act caused more than 2 billion 220 million soums in damage to nature.
In connection with this situation, the National Committee for Ecology has drawn up relevant documents, and the materials have been sent to the Prosecutor General's Office for legal action.
