Catholics Celebrate Christmas in Tashkent

On the evening of December 24, the Sacred Heart of Jesus Roman Catholic Church in Tashkent became a focal point for hundreds of city residents celebrating the holiday. This was reported by Podrobno.uz.
The Catholic community in the capital celebrated Christmas in a warm and festive atmosphere. A Podrobno.uz correspondent attended the celebratory prayer service and captured the most memorable moments of the evening.
The service began with prayers and the liturgy of the word. Alongside regular church members, visitors to the city also filled the fully packed hall.
Among those present were benevolent nuns dressed in white, standing out in the crowd. The spiritual atmosphere was further enhanced by the powerful sound of the pipe organ, filling every corner of the Gothic cathedral and accompanying each stage of the prayer.
Following the prayer segment, Bishop Jerzy Maculewicz addressed the congregation. Dressed in festive attire, the bishop extended his congratulations to those gathered and offered both collective and personal blessings.
At this point, the faithful formed orderly lines to approach the altar for blessings from the bishop; some, adhering to church customs, kissed the priest's hand as a sign of respect. Families with children were also noticeable among the attendees.
The celebratory atmosphere was further enriched by the church choir. The singers' voices harmonized with the organ music under the towering domes of the cathedral.
The festive prayer service at the main church in the country continued until late in the evening.
