A criminal case has been initiated against an official of the regional branch of "Kumir Ta'minot" LLC in Namangan region on suspicion of accepting a large bribe. This was reported by Podrobno.uz.
According to law enforcement authorities, the deputy head of the branch demanded $40,000 from a citizen in exchange for appointing him as the head of the coal depot in the region. Additionally, he promised to increase the number of coal wagons delivered to the depot, allegedly relying on his contacts in higher offices.
On December 6 of this year, the suspect received the first installment of the requested sum — $25,000 — through a branch employee and facilitated the citizen's appointment as the depot head. Later, the official demanded the remaining $15,000, as well as an additional $7,500 for sending 30 more coal wagons.
While receiving a total of $22,500 through an intermediary, the suspects were apprehended by the State Security Service and the Department for Combating Economic Crimes. Currently, a criminal case has been opened against them under Article 168 (Fraud), Part 4, Clause "a," and Article 211, Part 3, Clause "a" of the Criminal Code.
A decision has been made to detain the suspects. It has been noted that, as a result of the measures taken, coal delivery to the population was carried out in a timely manner and at preferential prices.
