A person was arrested in Tashkent for paying a $4,000 debt with counterfeit dollars

In the city of Tashkent, a person who attempted to settle a debt using counterfeit US dollars has been detained. This was reported by the Department for Combating Economic Crimes.
It was found that previously convicted R.T. gained the trust of his acquaintance M.X. by promising to deliver 4 tons of tomatoes. Based on this agreement, M.X. handed over 4,000 US dollars to him. However, it is reported that the suspect spent the money not on the goods, but on his personal needs.
Later, in order not to return the money and to “find a way out” of the situation, R.T. prepared counterfeit 100-dollar banknotes totaling 4,000 dollars and attempted to repay the debt in this manner. However, during the transfer of the fake money, the incident was exposed, and the suspect was detained with physical evidence.
A criminal case has been initiated under the articles of the Criminal Code related to fraud, as well as the production and circulation of counterfeit money and securities. Investigative actions are currently ongoing.
