According to reports, the group members monitored a person involved in crypto-asset trading, introduced themselves as law enforcement officers, invited the victim to one of the city’s supermarkets, placed him into a Damas vehicle, and intimidated him with criminal liability for “illegal crypto activity.”

Through threats and pressure, the victim was forced to transfer 100,000 US dollars in cryptocurrency to a crypto wallet belonging to the group. In addition, during the investigation it was revealed that one of the group members used violence against a woman, seized her expensive mobile phone, and demanded 10 million soums.

It is reported that two group members — Minhajiddin Alimov (“Hoji”) and Abdumalik Shokirov (“Muftiy”) — are currently outside the territory of Uzbekistan, and a manhunt has been объявed for them. The remaining members have been detained.

The Internal Affairs authorities urged victims to contact law enforcement agencies or call the emergency number 102, assuring that the identity of applicants will remain confidential.
