In Uzbekistan, the Month of Livestock Health has begun

Ministry of Agriculture of the Republic of Uzbekistan officially announced that from 18 April to 18 May 2026, a “Month of sanitary-epidemiological and hygiene measures in livestock farming” has been declared across the territory of Uzbekistan. The main purpose of this initiative is to protect the health of livestock animals and prevent the spread of dangerous infectious diseases.
According to data from World Organisation for Animal Health, new “SAT” types of this disease were identified in 48 countries during 2025–2026. It is also noted that existing vaccines do not provide full immunity against all strains.
The Ministry of Agriculture recommends farmers and livestock breeders strictly comply with veterinary-sanitary regulations. It is especially emphasized to introduce disinfection measures at entry points to farms and strengthen control systems.
It is also highlighted that access of unauthorized persons and vehicles should be restricted, and animals should be provided with clean water and high-quality feed. Maintaining constant cleanliness in farm areas and fighting harmful insects are also among the main requirements.
In case of suspicion of disease, animals must be immediately isolated, and self-treatment should not be applied. In all cases, prompt consultation with veterinary specialists is mandatory.
Symptoms of foot-and-mouth disease include high temperature, ulcers in the mouth and on the hooves, as well as lesions on the udder. In such cases, full disinfection of buildings and prohibition of product distribution are required.
Specialists consider vaccination the most effective preventive measure. Cattle should be vaccinated twice a year, while sheep and goats should be vaccinated once a year. Immunity develops 15–21 days after vaccination.
The Ministry urges farmers to remain constantly cautious and emphasizes the need to immediately contact specialists in any suspicious cases. Compliance with rules and hygiene is stated to be the foundation of healthy livestock and stable income.
