Messi: “Guardiola changed football… and did some damage”

“Inter Miami” striker and one of the legends of football history Lionel Messi made an unexpected comment about his former coach Josep Guardiola.

“Guardiola is a different world. He sees things that others don’t see. He changed football. Everyone wanted to copy us,” said Messi.

However, the legend also admitted that the consequences of these changes were not always positive: “People tried to play like Barcelona without understanding how to do it. In this way, football was unintentionally damaged.”

Messi called the midfield trio of Xavi, Iniesta and Busquets under Guardiola an "unique team". Their mutual understanding and harmony with the coach allowed them to implement any tactics.
