After the 8th round Super League match, which drew great interest, between “Surkhon” and “Pakhtakor” (2:1), head coach of the Termiz team Fevzi Davletov attended the press conference and spoke in detail about the victory, his team’s performance, and some shortcomings.
“The match had a tactical character in both halves”
“We knew well that ‘Pakhtakor’ plays through vertical and long passes. That’s why we were able to resist their attacks.
During the break, we told the boys: ‘There will be chances, and we must use them.’ It was great that we capitalized even on a half-chance.
Conceding a goal, of course, was disappointing. In such situations, when we gain possession, we need to play until the end.
Also, the substitutes could not make the desired impact on the game.
Nevertheless, I congratulate my team. Our fans came to share the joy — that’s very important.”
“A win over ‘Pakhtakor’ in Termiz after 22 years — a historic event”
“This result is important not just in terms of points, but also historically. Beating ‘Pakhtakor’ in Termiz after 22 years — that’s a big moment.
We achieved this together — the fans, the team, and the staff. Thanks to everyone.”
“Low activity on the right wing — we must restore balance”
Answering a journalist’s question about the performance on the right wing, Davletov said:
“This issue was visible even in the previous match against ‘Mashal’. There must be equal strength on both wings. Attacking only through the left side is not enough.
It seems that S. Khamidjonov and S. Poyonov have some discomfort or lack of confidence. We are demanding more attacking activity. The players must respond to this.”
“What I expected from ‘Pakhtakor’ — exactly what happened, our plan worked”
Davletov also commented on the rotation in the Cup and the preparation for the match against ‘Pakhtakor’:
“In the Cup, we let several key players rest. That decision was made to focus fully on the ‘Pakhtakor’ game.
What I expected from the game — that’s exactly how it went. There were no surprises from ‘Pakhtakor’. We had analyzed them thoroughly.
Teamwork, preparation, and discipline led to success. Thanks to the boys — they showed everything they had.”
In conclusion…
Surkhon’s win over Pakhtakor was not only important in terms of points but also became a major psychological boost for the team.
Fevzi Davletov also addressed weaknesses openly, showing a constructive and honest approach as a coach.
