In the next match of the 36th round of the English Premier League, Manchester United hosted West Ham and suffered a defeat, dropping to 16th place in the league table. This result once again confirmed that the team is experiencing one of the most difficult seasons in recent years.
At the post-match press conference, the club's head coach Rúben Amorim openly and sharply spoke about the psychological decline and lack of internal discipline within the team.
"The problem — no one seems concerned"
"The most worrying thing is that everything seems fine within the team. As if the results don’t matter, and losing has become a normal occurrence. That is the biggest issue. We no longer feel like a big club," said the coach.
"There’s no sense of needing to win"
"Everyone is thinking about the Europa League final, but in the current situation, that is not the main issue. We have serious problems that need to be addressed. The team doesn’t seem ready for Premier League matches. Sometimes it feels like winning isn’t even necessary. That’s why the psychological decline has reached its peak."
"It’s not just about the players — it’s a cultural issue"
In his remarks, the coach did not place direct blame on the players but rather focused on the overall spirit and culture of the club:
"I’m not blaming the players. I’m speaking about myself. This is a matter of club culture. If this feeling remains, then we must step aside and make way for change."
"Big changes will come in the summer"
"We must make major changes this summer. This isn’t just about the squad — it’s about the internal spirit of the team and the club. Next season must not begin like this one. We have to become a strong, courageous team that fights to win once again."
Is the final important?
"To be honest, the final doesn’t worry me. This is not the most important problem in the club. We have much bigger issues to resolve. And the responsibility for that lies entirely with me."
As a reminder, Manchester United will play in the Europa League final against Tottenham in the night from May 21 to May 22. However, according to the head coach, this match cannot heal the deep problems within the team.
