One of the brightest transfers of the European summer transfer market has taken place. The famous English club “Liverpool” has added to its squad one of the youngest and most talented players of the Bundesliga — Florian Wirtz.
According to journalists, the Merseyside club paid “Bayer” 136.3 million euros for the 22-year-old attacking midfielder. This amount, including bonuses, is recorded as one of the most expensive transfers in the club’s history.
Florian Wirtz joined “Bayer” from “Cologne” in 2020 and since then has proven himself as a mature footballer. In the Leverkusen club, he played 197 official matches, scoring 57 goals and providing 63 assists. In the recently finished season, he played 45 matches in all competitions, helping his team with 13 goals and 14 assists.
Naturally, such productivity did not go unnoticed by other European giants. Strong clubs like “Bayern” and “Manchester City” also showed serious interest in Wirtz. However, the player himself and his agents preferred the “Liverpool” project.
With this transfer, the “Liverpool” team aims to add even more creativity and speed to their game. Taking into account Wirtz’s technique, ball control culture, and passing ability, it is expected that he will become one of the key figures of the team.
At the same time, with the arrival of new head coach Arne Slot, “Liverpool” is entering a new stage. New coach — new system, new faces and, of course, new goals. Florian Wirtz can become one of the main weapons in this process.
If Wirtz manages to show himself in his new team as he did at “Bayer”, “Liverpool” will find not only a return on transfer investment, but also the path to new trophies. Read 'Zamin' on Telegram!
