Luis Enrique defends Donnarumma after Musiala's injury
A bright and sad event occurred at the Club World Cup: PSG head coach Luis Enrique supported Gianluigi Donnarumma after the quarter-final match against Bayern, reported lequipe.fr. At the end of the match, Bayern’s young star Jamal Musiala collided with Donnarumma in PSG’s penalty area and suffered a severe injury — the midfielder’s left leg was broken, and he underwent surgery.

After the match, Luis Enrique openly stated: “I think anyone who knows Gigi well understands his humanity and high professional culture. Football is a sport where injuries and unexpected damages always happen during the process. There was no bad intention in Donnarumma’s actions. He was simply fighting for the ball,” said the coach.

The PSG coach said he didn’t see the need to comment on the attitudes of Musiala or his teammates. According to Enrique, Donnarumma was very worried at the time, but he has already contacted Musiala personally, and the whole team wishes him a speedy recovery.

Experts consider this incident an example of football being full of passion and drama, and at the same time a manifestation of human pain and team unity. After Musiala’s situation, PSG players also experienced sadness and concern.
