There’s positive news from French football — Lyon will stay in Ligue 1. According to RMC Sport, France’s National Directorate of Management Control (DNCG) officially reversed its previous decision to relegate the club to Ligue 2 due to financial issues.
Following a reassessment, the DNCG canceled the relegation decision, granting Lyon permission to participate in the 2025/26 Ligue 1 season.
However, this doesn’t mean Lyon’s problems are fully resolved. The club will still face restrictions regarding its wage budget and transfer spending, remaining under DNCG surveillance.
Many analysts believe PSG played a role by sending early payment for the Bradley Barcola transfer, significantly helping Lyon's financial balance sheet.
For fans, keeping a historic club like Lyon in Ligue 1 is welcome news. The next challenge for the club: achieving financial stability and improved sporting results. Read 'Zamin' on Telegram!
