An unexpected event occurred in Russian football. According to official information distributed by Match TV, the well-known Moscow club "Torpedo" has been excluded from the list of participants in the 2025/26 Russian Premier League season. Match TV reports that this decision is rooted in serious suspicions and scandals that have reached the court level.
It is known that "Torpedo" finished second in the First League in the 2024/25 season and earned a direct promotion to the Premier League. However, this marked the beginning of major problems for the club.
In the decisive 34th round of the season, the match against "KAMAZ" ended in a 1:1 draw, which was enough for "Torpedo" to secure promotion. However, suspicions soon emerged that referee Bogdan Golovko had deliberately made errors in favor of "Torpedo". Following a police investigation, the referee was officially arrested.
In addition, the club’s owners and management were also accused of being involved in the suspicious incident. One of the co-owners of "Torpedo", Leonid Sobolev, and the club’s director, Valeriy Skorodumov, were sentenced to two months in custody for attempting to unlawfully influence the result of an official sports competition.
This situation caused a major stir in Russian football. It is still unknown which team will replace "Torpedo" in the RPL.
Notably, this club is familiar to Uzbek fans as well. During the 2022/23 season, Uzbekistan national team winger Khojimat Erkinov played for "Torpedo" and made an impact in several important matches.
Such suspicious incidents in the football world clearly damage both the image of clubs and the reputation of leagues. As of now, "Torpedo" has not issued a statement regarding its future. But one thing is certain: success achieved dishonestly never lasts. Read 'Zamin' on Telegram!
