
The second day of the prestigious WT Diamond Games taekwondo tournament in Muju, Republic of Korea, also ended with joyful results for Uzbekistan's athletes, reported the NOC. This time, in the mixed discipline, our national team won a new series of medals.
In the main squad, Diyorbek Tukhliboev, Shuhrat Salaev, Shabbona Abduvalieva, and Svetlana Osipova defeated the national teams of Indonesia and Mongolia in the qualifying rounds. In the final, after a tense and challenging fight against the Kazakhstan national team, they achieved victory and were awarded the gold medal. This victory demonstrates our team’s worthy participation and serious preparation for the tournament.
The second team — Ozodbek Mamadaliev, Yodgor Juraboev, Sevinch Haidarova, and Ozoda Sobirjonova — also defeated Singapore and the Republic of Korea, but lost to Kazakhstan in the semi-final. However, in the match for third place, they confidently beat Morocco and claimed the bronze medal.
Thus, by the end of the second day of the tournament, our national team has 2 gold and 1 bronze medals. Tomorrow, the winners and prize-winners of the individual competitions will be determined. According to experts, the performance of Uzbekistan’s taekwondo athletes at this tournament is important not only for sports, but also for the image of the country.
