Maksim Shatskikh: A draw against the champion is not a cheap result

As part of Matchday 17 of the Super League, a match was held in Qarshi between the local team “Nasaf” and “Andijon.” The game, which was full of intense duels, a lively pace, and emotional moments, ended in a 1:1 draw. After the clash, head coach of “Andijon” Maksim Shatskikh attended the post-match press conference and shared several important thoughts, reports championat.asia.

"A draw in Qarshi is still a result"

– We played away against the reigning champion. That’s never easy, of course. Matches like these involve fierce fights for every point. Today, we did our best to secure a win. I believe our performance wasn’t bad. The boys didn’t lose composure, they fought and acted selflessly. Personally, I’m not dissatisfied with the outcome — earning a draw in Qarshi is also an achievement. Sure, we could have won, but we also could’ve lost. So I accept this result as it is.

"What did I expect from today’s match?"

– We knew in advance that this contest wouldn’t be easy. “Nasaf” is a well-organized, strong team. We had clear plans — some of them worked out, others didn’t. In a few instances, our players lacked individual skill. If that had been higher, we might have walked away as winners today. Still, I’m grateful to every player — they gave everything on the field. Unfortunately, the goal we conceded was quite painful.

"Am I satisfied with our preparation for the second half of the season?"

– We prepared thoroughly and seriously for the second part of the season. We tried to maintain high discipline and intensity during training. I believe we’ll see the fruits of that work not only in the Super League but also in international competitions — specifically, the Champions League. We are ready both mentally and physically. There are still many important matches ahead. Our aim is to achieve the best possible result in every game.

Analysis: Shatskikh’s statements reflect a strong internal spirit within the team, a systematic approach to the game, and purposeful execution. The coach evaluates things realistically but never gives up on the possibility of winning. It’s exactly this approach that lies behind “Andijon”’s results this season.
