On August 14, the "Jar" stadium will witness a historic and emotional football evening. This time, the game is dedicated to the memory of the "Pakhtakor-79" team, with legends of Uzbek football taking the field against former stars of the Russian national team.
Yesterday, the "Lions" press service announced the list of players who will participate in this highly anticipated match.
The honor of Uzbekistan will be defended by Ignatiy Nesterov, Gulom Halimtoev, Anvar Gofurov, Bakhtiyor Ashurmatov, Abdumajid Toirov, Timur Kapadze, Server Djeparov, Odil Akhmedov, Mirjalol Qosimov, Azamat Abdurahimov, Ravshan Ermatov, Mamur Ikromov, Sherzod Sharipov, Shukhrat Maksudov, Hikmat Khoshimov, Shavkat Nasibullaev, Pavel Solomin, Kamoliddin Murzoev, Odil Isaboev, Bekzod Mamatkulov, Igor Shkvirin, Sobir Khodiev, Murod Aliev, and Jafar Irismetov — names well-known to the local fans.
In Russia’s lineup, Rinat Dasayev, Dmitry Alenichev, Yegor Titov, Valery Shmarov, and Sergey Kiryakov are expected — legends who hold a special place in the history of USSR and Russian football. Among them are stars who have played in European and world tournaments, won medals, and have many years of experience. For example, Dasayev was once recognized as the best goalkeeper in the world and included in the "FIFA 100" list. Alenichev is one of the few footballers to score goals in both the UEFA Cup and Champions League finals.
The list also includes former players who have played at a high level but are less known to the general public — such as Alexander Cherkes and Vitaliy Buliga. The rest mostly played in domestic competitions, had few appearances in the RPL, or did not play professionally at all.
Most interestingly, in the Russian team there is Oleg Devichenko, who has no professional football history — he is known as a businessman from the Oryol region.
Undoubtedly, a match featuring such stars as Dasayev, Alenichev, Titov, Shmarov, and Kiryakov will be a great football celebration for the fans. The clash of players from different generations and backgrounds on one field will surely bring the audience both excitement and memories.
