Current UFC heavyweight champion Tom Aspinall recently shared his thoughts with “TNT Sports” about the upcoming clash between South African fighter Dricus du Plessis and Russian star Khamzat Chimaev.
According to Aspinall, he has watched many of Du Plessis’ fights but doesn’t know much about him personally. Nevertheless, the champion doesn’t believe Du Plessis will lose this bout:
“I think Du Plessis will find a way to win no matter what,” Aspinall said. “Khamzat is of course a strong opponent, a real predator inside the octagon. He always drags his opponents to the ground and finishes the job there. Still, it’s hard to predict the result in advance. Honestly, I can’t say for sure who will come out on top.”
His remarks sparked heated discussions among fans, as both fighters possess top-level skills and experience.
The Du Plessis vs. Chimaev showdown will take place on August 17 at “UFC 319.” For each fighter, it’s a crucial chance to solidify their place in the rankings and move closer to a title shot. Chimaev is known for his physical power and ground control, while Du Plessis stands out for his toughness and versatile fighting style.
UFC fans are calling this fight one of the biggest events of the year, and Aspinall’s cautious statements have only increased the intrigue. MMA analysts also agree that the outcome is truly hard to predict.
On August 17, this matchup could become not only a significant chapter in UFC history but also a memorable spectacle for MMA fans worldwide.
