Following the Oman-Kyrgyzstan match in the second round of the CAFA Nations Cup, Oman national team head coach Carlos Queiroz shared his thoughts on the game in an interview with journalists.
"The first half was very difficult for us. Due to the condition of the field, it was difficult to fully immerse oneself in the game. Kyrgyzstan has many physically strong and well-built players. Therefore, playing against such an opponent requires quick and precise movement with the ball. We lost all the "duels" in the first half, and our opponent showed a game worthy of scoring. And they opened the account. But after the 30th minute, control of the game came into our hands. "I think we deserved the victory more," said Cyrus after the argument.
The coach was also asked a historical question. Journalists recalled the 2012 match in South Africa, when Iran, led by Queiroz, defeated Uzbekistan with a goal at the last minute. Today too, Oman secured the victory thanks to shots from the last minutes.
- This is our philosophy - never give up and fight to the end in any situation. I will force my players to play on the field until the last minute. For example, today after the 50th minute, the guys were tired, but I encouraged them to play more actively and continue to attack. We saw the results in the end. My players can never give up. "Honestly, we should have made the score bigger today," said Cyrus.
