Reports about a possible change of head coach in the Uzbekistan national team have sparked heated discussions in the football community. Especially at a time when there is less than a year left until the World Cup, raising such an issue raises many questions.
In this regard, the well-known Russian expert Stanislav Cherchesov shared his views.
"To be honest, I'm hearing about this issue for the second time and I'm amazed. I don't know why the idea of replacing the coach arose, nor how realistic it is. In my opinion, Timur Kapadze, who led the national team to the Olympics and the World Cup, deserves respect and trust. Although he had not previously worked in major competitions, he led the team to this stage. This is already a great achievement. As I can see, the team operates in an attacking style and knows well what to do on the field. Therefore, I think the coach who qualified should lead the team until the end," Cherchesov said.
In his opinion, bringing in a coach from abroad is a very complex process. "Recently, when I worked in Kazakhstan, there were no difficulties in language, we communicated in Russian. But still, it takes time to understand the mentality, the atmosphere within the team, and who each player is. It's very difficult for a specialist who doesn't know Uzbekistan at all and has never been there to yield immediate results. "The management must also take this into account," he added.
The Russian specialist also emphasized that a footballer or coach must always understand where they are coming from, what culture and what environment they should work in.
"My opinion is clear: Kapadze should be trusted. Timur needs to continue working with the team. If I'm asked for advice, everything should go its own way," Cherchesov concluded.
