President of Kazakhstan Kassym-Jomart Tokayev emphasized the need to accelerate the privatization process of clubs for the further development of the football sector in the country. According to the head of state, this way the professional level of football in the country will increase and the industry will achieve economic stability.
"It is necessary to accelerate the privatization of football clubs. Today, 4 Kazakhstani clubs are already managed by well-known entrepreneurs. I want to thank them for this work. However, this is not enough; football needs to be commercialized and managed as a business. "World practice shows that there is no other way," Tokayev said in his speech.
The President emphasized that professional sports should be perceived not only as results in competitions, but also as a whole business industry. This network, if managed correctly, can bring a large income.
As a reminder, in March of this year, Kassym-Jomart Tokayev also called on entrepreneurs to view club football as an investment. "Clubs should not rely solely on regional budgets. Like in the world, they need to learn to earn money and be self-sufficient. If clubs become private entities, they will have the opportunity to attract talented players from abroad," he said.
According to the data, in March of this year, 461 entities in Kazakhstan were selected for transition to a competitive market environment. The seven organizations in this list are football clubs.
Officials say that thanks to the privatization process, clubs are expected to gain financial independence, attract new investments, and significantly improve football infrastructure.
Thus, it is evident that the leadership of Kazakhstan considers sports as an important area of economic development and attaches great importance to linking its future with the private sector.
