The number of national teams that have secured the right to participate in the 2026 World Cup continues to grow. So far, 28 out of 48 teams have booked their tickets to the tournament, Reuters reported.
It would not be an exaggeration to say that October marked the conclusion of the main qualifying phase. This month, Egypt, Algeria, Ghana, Cape Verde, South Africa, Qatar, England, Saudi Arabia, Côte d’Ivoire, and Senegal qualified for the World Cup. They confidently performed in their groups and advanced to the next stage.
September was also an important month in football history. During this period, Uruguay, Colombia, Paraguay, Morocco, and Tunisia added another World Cup chapter to their national histories. For these teams, participation is not only a sporting achievement but also an opportunity to elevate their country’s pride.
Earlier stages saw several other teams achieve qualification as well. Japan, New Zealand, Iran, Argentina, Uzbekistan, South Korea, Jordan, Australia, Ecuador, and Brazil had already qualified. Among them, traditional favorites Argentina and Brazil once again proved their class.

The 2026 World Cup is scheduled to take place from June 11 to July 19. For the first time in history, it will be held across three countries and feature 48 teams. This new format will become the largest in World Cup history.
Officials note that the new system allows more nations to showcase themselves on the global football stage. Even teams that previously lacked the chance to reach the final stage will now have the opportunity to defend their nation’s honor.
Currently, attention is focused on the European and African teams competing for the remaining spots, as the fate of the last tickets will be decided in their matches.
