Manchester City head coach Pep Guardiola has spoken about the possibility of taking a break from coaching in the future. In an interview with BBC, the Spanish manager openly discussed his attitude toward his job, the changes in the team, and his future plans.
Guardiola emphasized that although he is not thinking about stepping away now, he may consider it later.
“Maybe I’ll think about it around 2035. When you do one job for many years, everything gradually changes. It’s a natural process — the club, the players, and the coach all feel it,” he said.
The coach also commented on the recent changes within the club.
“We’re not the same team we were years ago. There are many reasons for that. Some people have left, others have chosen new paths. Even part of my coaching staff has moved on. That’s just football,” said Guardiola.
He added that his relationship with the club’s management remains strong:
“My relationship with the board is excellent. They trust me, and I feel that trust. Right now, I’m here, in front of you — that’s the most important thing. What happens next, time will tell.”
In recent years, Guardiola has led Manchester City to historic achievements — winning the Premier League, the FA Cup, and the Champions League. He also stated that he continues to aim for new successes with the current squad.
“Our goal remains the same — new victories and new history. Maintaining consistency in football isn’t easy, but that’s exactly our job,” the coach concluded.
Guardiola’s interview sparked lively discussions among fans — many interpreted his phrase “we’ll see what happens next” as a hint that his time at Manchester City could be nearing its end.
