One of the world’s most disciplined and respected boxers, Oleksandr Usyk, has announced that he has no intention of entering politics. The Ukrainian champion spoke about this in an interview with local media.
The 38-year-old undisputed world champion said:
“What would I do in politics? I don’t need it. If I became a politician or a mayor, who would I really help?! I haven’t studied in that field; I have no legal education. Many people enter politics because they want to steal. But I don’t want to steal. Thank God, I have everything I need. I earned it all through my own work, and now I want to grow it in another direction,” said Usyk.
According to him, the experience, discipline, and hard work gained through sports already give him enough satisfaction in life. “Through sports, I want to show people that patience, faith, and effort can achieve anything. That’s a much more honest path than politics,” he added.
The champion also stated that he plans to focus on projects outside the ring — opening fitness centers and supporting young boxers to help raise a new generation of athletes.
The boxer described politics as a “clumsy and dirty game.” In his opinion, most people enter it for power, money, or fame, but not to truly help others. “I don’t want to criticize anyone, but I prefer to stay far from that world,” said Usyk.
It should be noted that on July 26, Oleksandr Usyk knocked out British opponent Daniel Dubois in the fifth round of a major boxing event. This victory strengthened his titles and cemented his place in history as one of boxing’s most successful champions.
Fans warmly welcomed Usyk’s words. Many praised his decision to stay away from politics, calling him “a man who thinks about the people, not himself.”
Usyk is now planning his post-boxing career and considers keeping his name clean and reputation strong his main goal.
