In the eighth round of the English Premier League, Manchester City defeated Everton 2–0 at home. The victory came thanks to another brace from Erling Haaland — the Norwegian striker extended his scoring streak and secured vital points for his team. However, despite the win, City’s head coach Pep Guardiola didn’t hide his disappointment after the match.
“Haaland could have scored not two, but four or even five goals. That’s frustrating for me. We must understand that we can’t rely solely on Erling’s goals,” said the Spanish manager.
According to Guardiola, other attackers must also make better use of their chances. “Haaland is always in the right position, but the wingers and attacking midfielders must also take responsibility. If everyone doesn’t perform at the same level, fighting for the title will be difficult,” he added.
The 25-year-old Norwegian has now scored 11 goals in 8 matches, leading the Premier League’s scoring charts. In half of those games, Haaland has scored twice, proving to be a key figure for his team every round.
Experts believe City’s current form is a strong sign in the title race, but Guardiola’s comments show that the team has yet to reach its full potential. In the upcoming matches, he expects other players to step up their contribution.
Following this victory, Manchester City remain one of the main title contenders, while Haaland continues his pursuit of new records.
