After the Super League’s 26th round match “Kokand-1912” — “Navbahor” (2:0), Namangan’s head coach Sherzod Juraev attended the press conference and shared his thoughts on the game and the result.
— Today’s match was genuinely interesting and lively for the fans, — said the coach. — Both teams fought for victory, the battle on the field was intense. Most importantly, the large turnout of Namangan supporters gave us great strength. They expected a good result from us, and we took to the field hoping to make them happy.
However, the situation changed early in the match — team player Azim Akhmedov received a straight red card and left the field.
— Being one man down is a test for any team, — said Juraev. — But despite that, my players did not give up. They always tried to play attacking football and put pressure on the opponent’s goal. In football, sometimes even a team that’s shorthanded can show itself, but this time, mistakes told in the final minutes. We conceded two goals — this is a natural part of football.
In the coach’s view, there were many positive aspects in the team’s game, but conclusions must be drawn and work done on mistakes.
— Since I took charge of the team, my main goal has been to restore the players’ confidence and fighting spirit. They are showing themselves from game to game. Today, too, they gave everything on the field. But we still have shortcomings — we will analyze and eliminate them by the next round, — said the coach.
Juraev also spoke about the upcoming match:
— Next round will not be easy for us, the opponent is “Nasaf”. They are fighting for the championship. But we will also go out and play with all our strength. Our only goal is to make our fans happy. They are with us every game, and we do our best for them.
The Namangan coach concluded by thanking his team and the fans:
— Thanks to my boys, they played to the last ounce of strength even in such circumstances. And I am grateful to our fans — their support is our greatest strength. We will fight on the field until the last minute to justify their trust, — said Juraev.
Thus, although “Navbahor” could not achieve victory, the team showed willpower and character on the pitch. This defeat was a lesson for them, and in the next round, they will have the chance to prove everything in the battle against “Nasaf”.
