The head coach of the Dutch club Ajax, John Heitinga, shared his thoughts on the 0:3 defeat to Turkey's Galatasaray in the UEFA Champions League. Two of the goals in the match were scored from penalties.
"It feels unfair. I think the team played well in the first 60 minutes.
They acted with discipline and managed to successfully escape the press several times. Everything was going well in the second half as well, but we let the ball reach our penalty area and this led to a goal.
We should have prevented such situations," Heitinga said in his interview with NOS portal. "I must praise the players for their courage to play from deep.
This created a few small chances, but ultimately we are left with a feeling of bitter defeat. In the two penalty episodes, the ball hit the arm from the knee area.
In my opinion, this was an excessively harsh decision." "We should not give up on our playing style and need to continue developing it. I always have a fighting spirit inside, and this is also visible in my team." Ajax is currently in 36th place in the tournament standings, without earning a single point.
Galatasaray is in 9th place with 9 points. Read “Zamin” on Telegram!
