Alexander Kerzhakov has commented on the 2005 goal he scored against Germany while playing for the Russian national team, which was not officially counted. If this goal is officially credited, Kerzhakov would once again share the title of Russia's top scorer with Artem Dzyuba.
Currently, Dzyuba has 31 goals to his name, while Kerzhakov officially has 30. However, upon further review, it was confirmed that the ball last touched Kerzhakov's foot 20 years ago before going into Germany's net.
"Justice has been served. After reviewing the archives, it was confirmed that I scored that goal.
I remember the situation very clearly; I made every effort to secure that goal," Kerzhakov stated in his comment to the "Insaydi ot Karpa" Telegram channel. "If they credit me with this goal, Dzyuba and I would once again be level.
Whether Artem will have another chance to surpass this record, I don’t know. But this situation is very interesting," Kerzhakov added.
It should be noted that Artem Dzyuba reclaimed the position of Russia’s top scorer in March after scoring in a friendly match against Grenada. This was his return to the national team after several years, allowing him to surpass Kerzhakov. Read “Zamin” on Telegram!
