Serbia Coach: We Could Have Defeated England

In the 2026 World Cup qualifying round, the England national team defeated Serbia 2-0 on home turf. Following the match, Serbia's head coach Veljko Paunović shared his thoughts on the result.

"I am satisfied with our performance. Our opponent has an excellent team and an experienced coach.

They played well, but we also had opportunities to win. In the second half, we came close to breaking England's clean sheet streak.

We should have capitalized on set-piece situations in the first half. Although I am dissatisfied with the result, I am proud of my team," Paunović told UEFA's press service.
