Emiliano Martinez Responds to Gattuso

Emiliano Martinez, the goalkeeper of Argentina's national football team, has responded to recent remarks by Italy's national team head coach Gennaro Gattuso. The Italian national team faces the risk of failing to qualify for the FIFA World Cup for the third consecutive time.

They will need to fight for a spot in the playoffs to secure qualification. Speaking on the matter, Gattuso emphasized that South American teams have a comparatively easier path to qualify for the World Cup than European teams.

"In Europe, they always play on perfectly watered, ideal pitches. They have no idea what it’s like to play in South America, so they can’t even imagine some of the challenges there," Martinez said during an interview with DSports.

The Argentina national team secured first place in the South American qualifiers without any difficulties and earned a spot in the 2026 FIFA World Cup. Italy, on the other hand, must defeat Norway by a margin of nine goals in the final round of the qualifiers; otherwise, they will lose the chance to qualify directly.
