Portuguese midfielder João Palhinha, currently on loan at Tottenham from Germany's Bayern Munich, responded to criticism made by Jamie Carragher. The former Liverpool player had stated that Palhinha was not good enough at advancing the ball effectively across the field.
"I saw Carragher's analysis because some people sent it to me. What can I say?
If he even criticized Cristiano Ronaldo... Some people need to criticize others just to appear on television," Palhinha said in an interview with The Guardian.
"Perhaps he needs to watch more of my games at Tottenham. I am having a very good season.
I don't care much about what most people say about us; what matters is how we respond to it." Additionally, the 30-year-old player mentioned that he is not opposed to staying in England, but emphasized this decision depends on the club management. "This is a question you should ask the club's owner or the sporting directors – Fabio Paratici and Johan Lange – not me.
I am very happy here, I feel the support of the fans, and that is something special," Palhinha added. This season, João Palhinha has played in 19 matches at the club level, scoring 4 goals and delivering 3 assists.
