Indrih Trpishovski, the head coach of Slavia Prague, shared his thoughts following the match against Athletic Bilbao in the Champions League group stage's fifth round. The match concluded in a 0-0 draw.
"The first half was evenly contested. In the second half, they gained the upper hand for a few minutes, but our goalkeeper saved us on several occasions.
Timely substitutions reduced their pressure, leveling the game again. The pitch was tough, and it was a physical battle," Trpishovski told efotbal.cz in an interview.
"They prepared well against us and made tactical adjustments. Especially in defense, they performed very well and didn't give us many opportunities.
In a standard situation, Xalupe was a bit unlucky to score, which is unfortunate," the coach added. "This is very painful for us.
However, perhaps you noticed that all the players gave their maximum and fought until the end. Unfortunately, it wasn't enough for victory.
Nevertheless, we are grateful to the fans who supported the team despite the weather conditions," he said. Following this result, Slavia is in 30th place with three points, while Athletic holds 28th place with four points.
