Vitaliy Kafanov, the goalkeeping coach of the Russian national football team, shared his thoughts on the future of Paris Saint-Germain (PSG) goalkeeper Matvey Safonov. "Sheval has made mistakes even before the match against Tottenham, yet the coaching staff still places trust in him.
I believe that if Matvey is given an opportunity, he will make the most of it and solidify his place in the main squad," the expert said in an interview with *Sovetskiy Sport.* It should be recalled that Safonov joined the Parisian club in the summer of 2024.
Since joining PSG, he has played in 17 matches, keeping clean sheets in seven of them. However, in the current season, the Russian goalkeeper has yet to appear on the field, as the coaching staff continues to fully rely on Lucas Chevalier for the goalkeeper position.
