Agent Safonov Explains Why He Is Not Playing for PSG

Russia's national team goalkeeper Matvey Safonov is unable to secure a place in PSG's lineup because he hasn’t won the competition based on sporting principles. Football agent Vadim Shpinev disclosed this information.

"He has talent, but the competition is very strong. There are very strong goalkeepers there.

Safonov is not playing due to sporting reasons," the agent said in his interview with "Match TV." In the 2025/2026 season, the Russian goalkeeper has not appeared in any matches for the Paris team.

The team's primary goalkeeper remains Frenchman Lucas Chevalier. Safonov may make his debut in the upcoming Ligue 1 match against Rennes.

Chevalier is expected to miss this match due to an injury.
