Nodirbek Abdusattorov made history in London with consecutive victories

The Uzbekistan Chess School once again spoke its word on the world stage. Nodirbek Abdusattorov dominated the competition at the London Chess Classic and became the champion one round earlier. He scored 7 points in 8 rounds, securing first place regardless of the results of the 9th round. This testifies to the young man's incredibly steady play and high skill.

In the first round of the tournament, he drew with Britain's Gawain Jones, and in the following six matches, winning in a row, took control of the overall standings. In the 8th round, a draw against French supergrossmeister Alireza Firouzja completely resolved the issue of victory in the competition.

Now Abdusattorov will play against Ukrainian Pavel Elyanov in the 9th round. Regardless of the result, he will receive a prize of £25,000 ($33,400) as champion. At the same time, it also showed significant progress in the FIDE rankings: after previous losses, it increased by 20 points, rising from 22nd to 12th place with a rating of 2752 points.

The London Chess Classic is a prestigious tournament held since 2009. The victory of the Uzbek chess player in this tournament, which was won by such great champions as Carlsen, Kramnik, Anand, Nakamura, Wesley So, Caruana, and Ding Lijen, became another bright page in the history of chess in our country.

Abdusattorov's victory inspired not only the chess community but also millions of Uzbek fans. A new generation of our country's chess continues to conquer the world's strongest stage, and on this path, Nodirbek's name is being heard more and more clearly.
