Stoichkov Praises 48-Team Format


Former Bulgarian striker and the top scorer of the 1994 FIFA World Cup, Hristo Stoichkov, has expressed his support for FIFA President Gianni Infantino's initiative to expand the World Cup final phase to 48 teams. He described the idea as "fantastic" and extended his gratitude to Infantino.

"48 teams – this is fantastic. It is a great opportunity for all coaches and players.

I thank FIFA President Gianni Infantino for this idea," Stoichkov stated in an interview with Derbyderbyderby.it. However, unfortunately, Stoichkov's home team, Bulgaria, did not qualify for the current World Cup finals.
