
On December 15, in an official congratulatory message, the President warmly congratulated athletes, their coaches, and parents on their remarkable success at the 5th Asian Youth Para Games. The head of state described this achievement as one of the significant milestones in the history of the nation's sports.
It was noted that the prestigious competition, held in Dubai, United Arab Emirates, saw the participation of over 1,500 athletes from 35 Asian countries. Amid such fierce competition, young Uzbek parasport athletes demonstrated courage, resilience, and excellent preparation, showcasing true heroism. In the congratulatory message, the President emphasized that this victory marked another bright and proud chapter in the history of Uzbekistan’s Paralympic movement.
According to reports, the Uzbekistan national team secured 99 gold, 57 silver, and 41 bronze medals throughout the tournament, making them the absolute leaders in Asia by the overall team ranking. Notably, during the event, Uzbekistan’s national anthem was played nearly 100 times, and the country’s flag proudly waved from the highest podiums.
The congratulatory message highlighted that certain athletes in para powerlifting broke world and Asian records, while in several categories of para athletics, Uzbekistan claimed the entire set of medals. These results vividly demonstrate the effectiveness of the systematic reforms being implemented in the field of parasports in the country.
The President also recalled that a special resolution had been adopted to further advance the Paralympic movement in Uzbekistan. It was noted that the National Social Protection Agency now oversees the activities of the Adaptive Sports Association, the "School of Courage," and an institute for training specialists. Currently, the number of adaptive sports has reached 89, and the number of regular participants in these sports in local communities has exceeded 45,000.
In conclusion, the head of state wished the young parasport athletes good health, immense success in their future endeavors, and new victories, while noting that their achievements serve as a source of inspiration for the entire nation.
