UK Prime Minister urges FIFA to reduce 2026 World Cup ticket prices

British Prime Minister Keir Starmer expressed his opinion on the ticket prices for the 2026 FIFA World Cup matches. Earlier, the Football Supporters Europe (FSE) had criticized the ticket prices as excessively high and demanded the suspension of ticket sales and a review of the pricing policy.

According to reports, the initial price for the cheapest tickets started at several thousand dollars. Subsequently, FIFA announced its intention to reduce ticket prices by severalfold.

In a statement on social media, Starmer wrote: "As someone who once saved up to buy tickets, I urge FIFA to do more to make tickets affordable. The World Cup should not alienate the true fans who make this game special."

It should be noted that the 2026 World Cup will be hosted for the first time in history across three countries — the United States, Canada, and Mexico. The tournament will also see an expansion from 32 to 48 national teams participating.
