Bayern Munich central defender Dayot Upamecano is reportedly very close to extending his contract with the club. According to sources, the parties have reached a preliminary agreement on nearly all terms, including salary, various bonuses, and a signing fee.
However, one issue remains unresolved: the inclusion of a release clause in the contract. Journalists Christian Falk and Tobi Altschäffl report that Bayern Munich is willing to finalize the deal only if a buyout clause is included.
The Munich club wants this clause to take effect starting from 2028, but the player’s representatives are opposed to this timeframe. Despite these disagreements, Upamecano's contract extension is highly likely to be finalized.
