Manchester City head coach Pep Guardiola shared his thoughts on the current condition of his team, their playing quality, and upcoming challenges. Tomorrow, the "Citizens" will face West Ham as visitors in the 17th round of the English Premier League (EPL), which is regarded as another serious test for the team.
The Spanish coach particularly emphasized the importance of never underestimating the opponent. According to him, although West Ham's recent results may not seem ideal, the team has shown respectable performances against strong opponents. Specifically, West Ham managed to draw at both Old Trafford and Brighton’s grounds and only lost to Aston Villa in the final minutes of the match. This, Guardiola noted, highlights the presence of high-quality players within their squad.
Guardiola also spoke candidly about his own team. He stated that Manchester City’s overall results are not bad but acknowledged that certain aspects still need improvement. The coach pointed out that the team possesses strong mentality and self-confidence but admitted they are not yet fully competing at the level required for a championship victory. "There have been good games and tough games. We must not cling too much to things that have already passed," he said.
Currently, the "Citizens" are in second place in the EPL standings with 34 points, trailing leaders Arsenal by just two points. This means that every upcoming match will be crucial for the team, with each point being worth its weight in gold.
